Job opportunity: Distributed Energy Analyst

We support our clients in accelerating the global energy transition to decarbonisation and decentralisation, with the goal of universal energy access and a clean energy future for all. We work with energy companies, investors, governments and developmental organisations across the globe, with Sub-Saharan Africa as our core focus. In our work, we chart the growth prospects of DRE technologies through multi-faceted market assessments and develop financial instruments geared for the needs of the sectors that we work in.
The role
We are looking for an assertive and committed young professional with excellent analytical skills, technical writing capabilities and a keen interest in energy-driven development and technology. The candidate will report to a mid-level associate on the company’s advisory and strategy consulting projects, and will be expected to execute the following tasks:
- Research and analysis (reading reports and extracting meaningful insights, database compilation, data entry);
- Assist with techno-economic and business modelling;
- Support the conceptualisation and writing of project proposals;
- Support with writing articles and opinion pieces on the developmental impact of disruptive technologies in emerging markets;
- Support on various company functions including communications, networking and social media management;
- Prepare for and contribute to regular internal meetings;
- Take part in brainstorming and idea development.

Profile
The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge and skills:
- 1–2 years’ work experience;
- At the minimum a bachelors degree. Postgraduate degree a bonus;
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel-based modelling and visualisation of charts, graphs and diagrams;
- Eager to learn, industrious and willing to proactively apply yourself to critical reasoning and creative problem solving;
- Ability to weave technical information into a cohesive and engaging narrative;
- The ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally with partners and clients, including presenting complex ideas and concepts, coordinating across a range of international stakeholders, and collaborating constructively;
- An interest in and awareness of emerging trends in technology, science and culture to inspire ground-breaking, innovative, and culturally relevant creative ideas;
- Motivated and organised, with the ability to work systematically through complex and imperfect information;
- We insist on the highest levels of quality, and over deliver on everything we do, therefore attention to detail is a highest priority;
- Excellent written and spoken English;
- Strong ability to work both independently and in an international team;
- Experience in developing contexts and/or Sub Saharan Africa a bonus;
- The ability to cook a cheeky risotto is also a plus, as we need someone to challenge the incumbent champion.
